Description
Fatah, the political party founded by Yasser Arafat's, is an all-encompassing power in the Palestinian territories, and enjoys popular support. Tanzim, Arabic for "organization," is a political offshoot that has transformed into a militia Arafat uses to launch intifadas, or uprisings, to challenge Israeli forces. The increasingly militarized tanzim movement is responsible for much of the recent violence.
Force 17 was Yasser Arafat’s personal security detail and is free to dabble in any Palestinian security matters. When the Palestinian leader travels, Force 17 is always at his side. Force 17 members have been involved in shootings, bombings, and mortar attacks in Israel and areas under the control of the Palestinian Authority.
Fatah has also create the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade which specializes in suicide bombing operations and multiple casualty shootings inside of Israel.
Location/Area of Operation
These groups operate mainly in the West Bank and have claimed attacks inside Israel and the Gaza Strip.
